Education

We are also excited to offer riverbank learning sessions for school groups within the grounds of Mottisfont Abbey.

These sessions help young people understand:
• What makes chalk streams internationally rare
• Why river habitats matter
• How water quality and land management affect wildlife

The site at Mottisfont provides excellent facilities for visiting schools, including parking, toilets and a dedicated learning space, alongside free learning opportunities to explore the wider estate after the riverbank sessions.

Recreation & Wellbeing

The Chalk Stream Experience is designed to connect people to rivers in many ways. After very successful trials of recreational activities in 2025 we are now taking bookings for practitioners to book sessions alongside the stretches of river. We will also be running our own river and nature themed activities. It’s all part of our vision to make this stretch of the River Test a shared, restorative space for both people and nature.

f you are interested in running your own recreation, arts and wellbeing sessions, please contact wendy@wessexrt.org.uk

Sign up to receive updates on the sessions we will be running, or keep an eye on our social media for information on events and activities coming soon.
